About the Fever River Railroad

The Stephenson Society of Model Trainmen is a not-for-profit group of scale modelers and railroad history buffs committed to educating the public on the importance of railroading in American history. The SSMT operates the Fever River Railroad, a very large model railroad layout of a fictional Class 1 railroad which operates between the port cities of Duluth, Minnesota and St. Louis Missouri. The club's model railroad layout is housed in their clubhouse which is the former Illinois Central boarding house across the street from Wallace Yard in Freeport, Illinois.

In addition to public and private showings of the Fever River Railroad permanent layout, the SSMT also displays a portable HO scale modular layout at area train shows.

The SSMT meets every Wednesday evening at 7:00pm and most Saturday mornings. Membership is open to anyone 14 years or older interested in HO scale model railroading. Newcomers to the hobby are welcome...no experience is necessary!
